Sneak a peak into this colorful 100-year old farmhouse

With little ones underfoot and a tight budget it can be difficult to design a home that really suits your style. However, Kristen Brown of 'Little Brown Nest' definitely has a knack for creating and designing within the parameters she has been given. Her 120 year-old home, like many others, has many of the classic features of a historical home and some of the downsides. A few of the memorable elements are a staircase original to the home and a wood-burning fireplace for those chilly Illinois nights.
Through the use of a cohesive color scheme, rustic materials and her creative design skills she has arranged a colorful little abode. Upon viewing her Instagram account it doesn't take long to determine just what her favorite colors are: gray and aqua. You can see hints of them in every room of the home. A hairdresser by trade, it is no surprise that she enjoys expressing her creativity in other ways. In fact, her humble farmhouse showcases a few of her own designs (available on her Etsy store of the same name). Two gorgeous creations involve the use of florals arranged to create a monogram effect. These can be seen in her children's room.
