There is something special about coming home to raise your family within driving distance of your parents. But how about building your new farmhouse next door to those parents? Well, this is just what Charity and Derek, of the Instagram account 'Southern Farmhouse Outwest', chose to do.
They made the move from sunny Georgia to build a custom home in the heart of Utah. However, choosing to build custom is not for the faint of heart. Charity's IG account shares the ups and downs of constructing a forever home from scratch. With the help of a father and son building team and a designer, Charity has designed a classic farmhouse with all the charm of a historic home.
The two-storey residence features a corner wrap porch with thick white columns, hardwood flooring, open concept kitchen/dining room, as well as room to play and craft upstairs. The home's design accommodates 3 spacious bedrooms and 2.5 baths with room to grow in the future. Unique features like a wall of floating shelves in the entrance will make you a follower in no time.
Antique copper sconces, purchased in Georgia, add a little sparkle to the front porch.
The front entrance with it rustic hardwood floors and wood-and-tile feature wall is truly stunning.
A wood range hood with scalloped edge adds color and texture to the all-white kitchen cabinetry.
The color scheme in the boys bedroom comes from the curtains, inherited from Charity's grandma.
The master suite features a spacious bathroom complete with soaker tub and large, glass-enclosed shower.
