Peek inside the pristine retreat of this Alabama farmhouse transformation

If you were to take the time to delve into the many styles encompassed in interior design you would discover that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. This is certainly true when it comes to farmhouse design, from French Country to Modern Rustic, there are a number of directions to take. However, while homeowners, designers and decorators may disagree on what constitutes the "perfect" country home, it does not necessarily mean that any of those approaches are wrong but simply a matter of personal preference.
When Paige Thornton purchased this restful retreat in the countryside outside Florence, Alabama she knew that it would require some changes to align it with her particular design style. Traditional exterior finishes such as white siding, contrasting shutters and conventional shingles were swapped out for a fiber cement Board and Batten siding and a white metal roof. The brick porch was painted a deep charcoal and industrial lanterns were hung on either side of new custom double doors. The home's interior was brightened up with neutral color palette of white and warm wood tones and shiplapped walls can be seen throughout the space. The transformation is truly breathtaking.

A multitude of horizontal lines in the kitchen area add a touch of modernity to main floor.
Just off the kitchen a small space was eked out for a cozy coffee bar.
