Get away from it all in a cozy mountain farmhouse touched with vintage charm

Perfectly built for couples who want a romantic getaway, this cozy farmhouse in sight of the hills of the Appalachian Mountains promises long nights by the fire and lazy afternoons near the pond. Second Creek Farm is "one of the last remaining authentic mountain farms beside the Blue Ridge Parkway," writes the owner Luther who grew up here when it was, "a thriving sheep and cattle farm...in fact you can still see where 'Dolly' and 'Dan' ate their hay and where their harnesses were hung."
Up close, the front porch, with it's blue-gray painted steps and hanging candle lantern, seems like a picture from a bygone age. To maintain its sense of timelessness, the owners have placed furniture and other items in and around the house that might have been around when this farmhouse was built in 1864. "White rocking chairs line the front porch and remind us of how uncomplicated things used to be in the old days," Luther and Catherine Cash write on their VRBO site.

Framed by ancient wood beams, the intimate living room is bright and well-heated by the hickory wood-burning stove. The simplicity of the whitewashed beams and understated style is an invitation to put away your phones and iPads and take pleasure in the quiet of the country.
Bell-shaped pendants of hand-blown glass light up the dining table which is set upon a folk style hand woven rug.
With a peek from another angle, an old-fashioned spinning wheel takes residence in a quiet corner.
Another plush sofa welcomes readers, snugglers and nappers!
The kitchen with a view! Under sloping beams, a still working 1940s vintage stove is a charming throwback to a another time.
Clean lines and lack of adornment is typical of Shaker design, emblematic in this wicker and wood chair, and the simple hall table just beyond.
Romantic and warm, the bedroom is inviting with two simple table lamps and soft white linens.
One for you and one for me. Two adirondack chairs are just close enough for couples who want to hold hands and take in the pleasures of a glass-still pond.
With views like this, it's hard to think of anything more important to do than spend the perfect sunset with your perfect someone.
