Check out the elegant woodwork in a gorgeously restored 1879 farmhouse

Located in the historic city of Wellesley, Massachusetts, this two-story suburban farmhouse has been restored to perfection under the guidance of homeowner and young mother, Jackie Hempel. The Hempel family purchased this 1879 residence in the Spring of 2015 and immediately began adding their own personal touches. In particular, the boys' bedrooms and playroom are colorful and fun while being unbelievably elegant; a difficult balance to maintain in children's design.
Beginning outdoors, the home's moody gray exterior provides the ideal backdrop for black shutters and crisp, white accents, including the full-length front porch. Wood treads and white risers lead you up the stairs and onto to cozy outdoor living space. Once inside, dark hardwood floors and an original staircase draw the eye into the home. While the flooring is stained a deep brown the walls and ceilings are bright and airy. In the family room rays of natural light flood through floor-to-ceiling windows. Exquisite wood details like paneling, built-ins, a fireplace mantle and a coffered ceiling provide even more depth and interest. Accents of gold and natural materials add the finishing touches to this memorable home.
