Cross the porch of this striking Cape Cod and enjoy a meal at its massive kitchen island

It may seem unusual to find a Cape Cod home in the landlocked state of Colorado. Originating in New England in the 17th century this type of home was favored by the inhabitants in the seaside state because of its steep roof pitch, to keep snow from accumulating on the roof, and a large chimney located at the center of the home to keep the cold at bay. On either side of the front door are large paneled windows that allow the available natural light to filter into the home. All of these features make this style of home ideal for the climate and particularly frigid winters experienced in Colorado.
The classic beauty of a Cape Cod also makes it desirable to homeowners and this Colorado home is no exception. The exterior boasts a spacious covered porch and even a swinging wood bench softened with layers of white and black textiles.

A set of wood and glass doors leads you inside to take in the intricate woodwork, rich hardwood floors, and natural wood panel ceilings. Layers of wood, both above and below, certainly create a cozy atmosphere without sacrificing ceiling height. On one side of the central hallway is a front seating room that houses the stone chimney, as well as providing direct access to the kitchen. The kitchen has been designed with many wood features like the paneled ceiling and newly-installed walnut island countertop. An additional island/peninsula, ideal as a snack bar at the far end of the kitchen, acts as a go-between from the kitchen to the adjacent family room.
The grand master bedroom is located on the second floor, below tall peaked ceilings. The dark gray wall color contrasts beautifully against the white draperies, textiles and bedding in the room. Surrounded by windows, the color of the walls does not detract from the abundance of light that enters the room.
With too many great shots to choose from, the selection of pictures below is sure to have you envying life in this Cape Cod dream home.
