See how original brick floors and country touches combine for a one-of-a-kind family farmhouse

When a house is purchased with the intended purpose of making it a "forever home," it is rarely left as is. New memories are quickly made during the intensive process of renovation as the structure is molded into a home with a newfound purpose and meaning. This experience is even more meaningful when a few friends are pulled into the mix. This is exactly the route taken by Beth and Jonathan Arnold, the owners of this thoughtful farmhouse in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas. They enlisted the help of local builder and friend Brent Timmerman, as well as interior designer Lynsey Purl.
The finished product is a home of 3,100 square feet (288 square meters) with four bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The  master suite (400 square feet, or 37 square meters) was added shortly after purchase to give the Arnolds space to rest and unwind at the end of each day. It includes a master bedroom, closet and bathroom. High-end finishes like Carrara marble add a touch of luxury to the master bath.
