Family renovates "tucked away" farmhouse from the 1800s to its former glory

When it comes to farmhouses new is nice but it can't compete with the experience and character of a historical home. After viewing a number of new builds in the area, Jessica and her family discovered this gem at the end of a winding driveway located in the midst of 500 acres of conserved land. The 1800's Connecticut farmhouse needed some work but the prospective homeowners were up for the challenge. After living in the home for a few years they began a renovation process that involved tearing down the dilapidated 1980's addition and replacing it with a structure more in line with the home's architecture.
Phase 2, currently in progress, is an additional annex that will include a barn garage, mudroom, playroom, media room and powder room. With a number of exterior changes to accommodate the home has been painted using a classic farmhouse palette of white and gray. The installation of framed windows continues the home's cohesive design.
