Walk inside a sweet farmhouse that exudes rustic charm inside

The visionary behind Farmhouse On Boone is Lisa, a wife, mother and self-proclaimed country girl hailing from a small town in Missouri. A lot of TLC went into renovating and decorating Lisa and Luke's century-old farmhouse, which is home to their six children and her backyard chickens. Judging by today’s clean design and curbside appeal, outsiders would never guess this 1920s bungalow was ever anything less than pristine.
A charming exterior is framed by an expansive front porch, which features new pine deck flooring, a custom wood railing and country porch essentials including a porch swing and rocking chair. The antique front door was stripped down to its original wood, restoring the luster that had been covered by decades of paint jobs. Vintage galvanized tubs, filled with herbs, succulents and coleus, accessorize the farmhouse porch landscaping.
The house lacked a formal entryway, so Lisa created one with an antique mirror, thrifted bench and black coat hooks.
The living room, dining room and entryway are all part of one large room in the first floor’s expansive, open floor plan. Built-in bookcases line an entire wall of the living room and are filled with housing accessories, antiques, photos, a flat-screen television and books. The clean white cabinets below stash homeschool supplies. To tie together her mix of furniture, Lisa sewed matching white slipcovers for the room’s couch, bench and wingback chairs.
An original archway separates the dining room from the area by the front door. Two bronze metal pendant lights hang over a handmade farmhouse dining table. White flowers, crisp plates and a white runner tie together the clean, airy aesthetic.
Bronze wall lamps in the kitchen offset an all-white backsplash, countertops and cabinets. A coat of paint and a custom-restored wood top remade a thrift-store kitchen island, and the couple installed IKEA quartz countertops.
On the first floor off the kitchen, the master bedroom charms with a DIY shiplap wall, crisp linens, and dressers and nightstands finished in chalk paint. A five-panel door with a glass knob leads to the peaceful oasis within.
The master bathroom features Benjamin Moore White Dove paint, complemented by white hexagonal mosaic tile and simple industrial sconces, finished in a contrasting dark bronze. White subway tile highlights the walls and around the vintage clawfoot tub, which was found on Craigslist.
Upstairs, the boys’ bedroom features simple brass twin beds, a flat-weave throw rug, and blue and white linens. White walls keep the space open and airy.
Pale pink walls in the girls’ room are accompanied by a blue-painted dresser. Homemade twin doll beds hold American Girl dolls, and the girls sleep in bunk beds with a fun slide descending from the top. A rustic pendant light from a resale shop illuminates the space.
