Walk and tour this farmhouse: It's a dream inside

Years ago, Joanna's friends nicknamed her "Hostess Jo" because she loved to plan parties and entertain. Ten years have passed and she's now married to a talented homebuilder and is a mother to two beautiful daughters. However, one thing hasn't changed: Hostess Jo still loves to create beautiful spaces where she can entertain.
Her husband built this stunning lakeside farmhouse in Alabama, and Joanna has filled it with the perfect blend of modern and rustic decor.

With Joanna's attention to detail inside and a scenic lake as the backdrop outside, this modern farmhouse is a natural spot for friends and family to gather.
The home features a breathtaking view of the lake, which is a perfect spot to enjoy water sports, do some fishing or simply relax and watch the sunlight sparkle on the ripples of the water.
The home's entryway is filled with colors and textures of a modern-day farmhouse. The board and batten trim on the white walls complements the clean lines of the Mission-style front door with its flat wood panels beneath a glass pane.
The white walls are also a clean backdrop for the rustic side table and dark wood floor. The modern oval mirror and graceful pendant light fixture contrast beautifully with the straight lines in the room.
The dreamy farmhouse kitchen features elements of black, white and wood colors. It's easy to imagine a family gathered together for a pancake breakfast at the beautiful island with its custom millwork and decorative trim.
The cabinets and range hood also have Mission-style panels and trim, and the contrasting black color of the knobs is reflected in the countertop, stools, and farmhouse chairs in the breakfast nook. The beautiful pendant lights add warmth to the room, and the cutting board is perfect as countertop decor.
The breakfast nook is illuminated by an attractive metal bell pendant light. It's an ideal spot to enjoy breakfast served on cheerful white pottery, and then feel free to stay and visit the rest of the morning. Sit back and relax against the plump striped pillows on the white bench and enjoy another cup of coffee.
The dining room features a custom whitewashed walnut farmhouse table with matching chairs and bench. Down the center of the table on the attractive runner, the homeowners proudly display the pallet wood trough that they made themselves. It's filled with greenery and white candles today, but they use it to decorate for every season by filling it with items such as pumpkins, pine cones or spring flowers.
A handsome grey-green sideboard nestles against the handsome board and batten white walls. Natural light filters through the Roman shades, and the iron barrel chandelier suspended from rope cords provides additional light from above.
On a chilly winter evening, curl up in a comfortable chair next to this beautiful stone fireplace. The natural wood mantle is the ideal stage set for a collection of rustic decorative items, including a botanical print and a vintage-style mirror.
"I’m finding it very hard to leave this bed on this cold, rainy morning," says JoAnna, and it's easy to see why. The bedroom is a peaceful escape from the world and is filled with a variety of luxurious textures.
The faded rug is cozy and warm on a cold morning, and the linen bedskirt is a decadent dressing on the lovely bed. The rustic shiplap headboard and sliding barn door contrast with the soft fabrics in the room.
Joanna added unique touches to this light and airy bathroom by installing dark knobs on the cabinets and unique schoolhouse lights above the mirrors.
The mudroom continues the home's farmhouse style with its board and batten walls with contrasting black hooks. It's the perfect spot to hang a coat and scarf after a long walk along the lake. The whitewashed church pew is a Craigslist treasure that Joanna discovered years ago. The buffalo check pillow and plush blanket add softness to the space.
The sign overhead is from Deuteronomy 28:6 which says, "You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out." Joanna says, "I love this verse being in our mudroom where my girls come and go every day."
The back deck features plenty of comfortable seating in these handsome chairs positioned around an attractive blue area rug. The fireplace keeps guests warm as they enjoy conversation as a cool breeze gently drifts across the lake. The shiplap ceiling lends a vintage touch and farmhouse feeling to this special spot.
