Step inside a humble home with a pristine interior perfect in every detail

For the adventurous homeowner a character home offers unlimited opportunities for transformation and restoration. In addition, it is refreshing to see how historical details can receive new life with the right approach. In this "Old House", the homeowner's haven't shied away from making it their own while tackling much of the work themselves and working with cash on hand. While this approach often takes longer the end result is no less impressive.
Leaving the exterior to last, this two-storey home recently received a new front porch, complete with shutters that can be raised and lowered to provide privacy and protection from the weather. A brick patio out front offers additional outdoor living space and a place to host family and friends.
The home's interior is painted a traditional white that covers the entirety of the tongue-and-groove clad walls. Richly-stained hardwood floors contrast beautifully with the walls. The open living room centers around a simple fireplace and mantle that has also been covered in the same style of paneling as the rest of the home. The rustic kitchen is designed with a combination of open and closed storage, allowing the homeowner's to display dishware and even rolling pins as decor. The dining room runs parallel to the kitchen and houses a salvaged farmhouse table and matching chairs. Retro lighting fixtures beautifully illuminate the kitchen and dining room's working areas.
The master bedroom and bathroom continue the neutral color scheme of the home. An abundance of windows in both rooms also allow the sun's rays to reach the interior of the second floor.
The careful renovation of this beautiful home has resulted in a simple and elegant space that pays homage to it's original era.
