This family farmhouse has clean, simple spaces with pops of color

DIYer Tiffany's favorite style is simplicity. "I crave clean, simple spaces, whites and woods with lots of textures," she writes. This style inspired her to transform her home into a family farmhouse. What's amazing is that she followed a budget and made most of these changes herself.
Is it possible to make a major transformation while on a budget? Using a palette of black and white with pops of color can get you started. It also helps to learn what she means by "capsule decor pieces." You can follow her story and learn more about her techniques on her Instagram page. Let's take a look at some of the highlights.
This family home in Alabama already had simple, clean lines before Tiffany began her renovations. The black shutters and white trim provide the kind of clean contrast she enjoys inside and outside of her home.
These black rocking chairs ably reflect the black shutters. The pillow fabric provides a contrast of texture. The pillows are also comfortable to lean against while sitting on the porch and sipping the sweet tea Tiffany has set out.
Tiffany likes to use capsule decor pieces to refresh her home. These are decorative items that can be used all year in different rooms. For example, in the living room, move the basket to a spot by the front door as a place to collect gloves or umbrellas. Fill the pitcher with fresh flowers and place it on the kitchen table.
The top question on Tiffany's Instagram page is "What paint color did you use on your door?" It's Spanish Moss from @dixiebellepaint. The moss green is just the right pop of color for this entryway. Its muted green tone sets off the white cotton wreath. These blend well with the shiplap walls and row of hooks in the corner. The black spigot hooks on a rustic wood board create a coat rack, which is one of Tiffany's DIY projects.
What could be more cozy than sitting in front of a fire on a cold night underneath this pom-pom throw blanket? It's a wonderful opportunity to catch up on your favorite Netflix programs. Store the removes in the storage baskets under the TV. The ladder on the wall could be used in other rooms as well, such as displaying decorative towels in the kitchen.
Tiffany's clean and simple style really shines through in the kitchen. She painted the cabinets white and installed the island and butcher block counter. The backsplash is actually a peel-and-stick film in a subway tile pattern, which allows a million-dollar look on a budget. Swipe through her pictures to get a closer look at the custom engraved cutting board from Etsy. You'll also see how much this room was transformed by looking at pictures of what it looked like before she began.
The sign above the stove says it all. Whatever you cook in a kitchen this pretty is going to be delicious.
This hutch was inherited from a great aunt. The chippy finish was created by using milk paint. It's the ideal cabinet to showcase favorite pottery pieces and a milk glass collection.
The theme of this master bedroom is farmhouse simplicity. The black wrought-iron bed frame provides a beautiful setting for the white pinch pleated comforter and plush accent pillows, including a pom-pom pillow.
This half bath is a work of art. After you admire the shiplap on the walls, take a look at the design above the shiplap. That beautiful pattern isn't wallpaper, it's stenciling. The time it took to add this detail is well worth it because it creates an elegant style. The pattern is called Lisboa from @royalstencils. The vanity has been painted, and the mirror is another successful DIY project. The texture of the mirror frame contrasts beautifully with the delicate pattern on the stenciled walls.
This beautiful farmhouse is proof that simplicity on a budget can have rich returns.
